When undertaking a remodeling project for your home, there is a tendency to go with what’s trending in the design world, but unfortunately, home design trends can change just as quickly as in the fashion world. And let’s face it, buying the latest style jeans is typically not as expensive as redoing a kitchen or bathroom (at least we hope!) When spending thousands of dollars to upgrade a room in your home, you may want to play it safe and opt for classic styles as opposed to what’s “in” right now. But playing it safe doesn’t mean boring. We’ve found three timeless tile styles that we’re confident will give you more years of pleasure than regret.

1.) White Subway Tiles

Subway tiles, contrary to popular belief, come in many sizes and colors. To stay on the classic style trend, always opt for white 3×6 tiles. Additionally, choose either bright white grout to keep a more uniform look that matches the tile, or go darker to show the tile pattern. Basic tile is a great way to ensure it stays timeless, just never use subway tile on the floor because it is typically ceramic and could eventually break or crack.

2.) Natural Colored Tile

Natural colored tiles that reflect the outdoors will remain ageless considering that the outdoors has never been out of style – not once. Opting for colors in the brown and gray families will allow you to add accent pieces to your space for a pop of color, as well as stay minimalist in design with added warmth.

3.) Wood Tiles

Wood floors have been around since the 1600s. Tiles resembling hardwood, known as wood porcelain tiles, are a modern twist and a great option for tile styles that will last and transition well into the future.

Most homeowners don’t have the budget to update their bathroom or kitchen design every 2-3 years. Changing tile can be quite expensive and not something you should aim to do when there’s a new trend in home design. Keeping your tile styles timeless will always have a greater benefit in the long run than trying to be trendy.
